What are the issues that GMC faces frequently? How to handle them?
While GMC is well-known for its reliability and durability, they also experience some common issues with time, especially due to wear and tear.

Low beam headlight failure
In some of the GMC models like Envoy, the low beam headlights present in it suddenly shut off though there are no issues with the lights. This is due to the defective driver module. The module melts suddenly without letting out any warning lights and does not supply any power to the lights.
Fuse block issues
It is observed that certain models of GMC vehicles have loose connections or some broken wires inside the fuse box. This may cause an interruption to the flow of electricity since the fuse box is one of the important components that transmit the electric power received from the battery to different components.
When there is a difficulty in the supply of power, the engine may begin to stall or you may experience hard starts. The disruption in the electric flow due to the fuse box issues can cause the warning lights in the dashboard to flicker.
Power steering loss
In some of the GMC models like Canyon drivers can face the loss of power steering assistance mainly due to the poor electrical components inside the steering gas assemblies.
It is observed that steering gas assemblies have a connector between the power steering electric motor and the torque sensor which can get easily corroded. When the connector gets damaged the power steering system will not work and the vehicle will automatically shift to the manual transmission.
Transmission issues
Earlier versions of certain models like Acadia have 6T70 or 6T75 transmissions which faces issues like overheating, complete failure and many others.It has been observed that while driving through busy traffic with frequent starts and stops or while accelerating through the hills these transmission produce more heat than the level that can be observed by the transmission fluid.
When the transmission gets overheated it can affect crutches, valves, seals, stripped gears and torque converters.
Leaky condenser issues
The air conditioning system works properly when it is properly sealed, preventing the leakage of refrigerants. When the condenser is defective it allows the air to enter the system which then freezes and hinders the proper circulation of the coolant.
Issues with the headlights
GMC models like Sierra have single halogen filament bulbs for both the low and high beam lights which makes it difficult to drive at night especially during rainy days which can be dangerous.
Excessive oil consumption
In certain models of GMC like Vortec it is observed to have excessive oil consumption. Excessive burning of the oil causes carbon build-up which can further affect the ignition system and the emission system.
